Voilà!

Voilà! Is a cinematographic universe in which the sombre and melancholic scenery of the streets of Krakow scramble to make room for the up-beat and festive mood of an Andalusian bistro after passage through the thick fog of Vladivostok docks. Sometimes in black and white, other times in bright color, this film will muster reactions from all who see it. This unique incarnation of music is mostly instrumental but sometimes colors its imagery by using different languages such as French, Russian, English and Spanish.

Voilà! First released a mini-album called “Le Congo pour les lions”, on Chat Blanc Records, in March of 2008.  The only pressing, which was limited to only 133 units, only took two weeks to sell out and also gave them the opportunity to share stages with names like Patrick Watson, Wintersleep, Karkwa, Pas Chic Chic, Torgnat…  They’ve also won the contest associated with Festival de musique indépendante Diapason de Laval.

Following the positive response to their first release, Voilà! released a full album that incorporates the songs released on “Le Congo pour les lions” along with three new songs that came from the very same recording session. Both of these releases then have been recorded at Breakglass Studio by none other than Jace Lasek (The Besnard Lakes), who had previously done work with Wolf Parade, Malajube, Islands and Patrick Watson.
